Split is designed with privacy in mind. The only data that leaves your device is receipt images you choose to scan, and only for the purpose of extracting item information.
When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to a secure intermediary server and then to OpenAI's API for text extraction. The image is used solely to identify line items and is not stored by Split or its servers beyond the duration of the request. OpenAI's data handling is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy.
Split history, item details, people, and settings are stored exclusively on your device and are never uploaded or shared.
Split requests camera access solely to photograph receipts. No photos are saved to your camera roll without your action.
Split does not use any third-party analytics or crash reporting services. Crash data may be collected by Apple through standard iOS diagnostic reporting, subject to your device's privacy settings.
Split requires no account, login, or personal information to function.
